USDA ANNOUNCES DETAILS OF 2002-CROP MARKETING ASSISTANCE LOANS AND LDP PROGRAMS FOR WOOL AND MOHAIR

USDA announced today that producers of wool and mohair are now eligible to apply for either a nine-month, nonrecourse marketing assistance loan or a Loan Deficiency Payment (LDP).

This form will be used by producers of wool and mohair to certify the type, quantity, and identification of production pledged to secure a CCC marketing assistance loan from FSA.

This form will be used by producers of wool and mohair to certify the type, quantity, and identification of production pledged to secure a CCC marketing assistance loan from FSA.

 

Regulations
The 2002 Act provides for Marketing Assistance Loans and Loan Deficiency Payments (LDP’s) for the 2002 through 2007 crop years. Marketing Assistance Loans and Loan Deficiency Payments are intended to: (1) Minimize potential loan forfeitures; (2) subsequent government accumulation of stocks; (3) minimize the cost incurred by the Federal Government in storing the commodity and; (4) allow a commodity produced in the United States to be marketed freely and competitively both domestically and internationally. 2004 County Loan Rates for Wool and Mohair

Loan and LDP Rates
The following are links to loan rates for 2004 and 2005 crop graded wool and mohair.  The graded wool loan rates are announced according to 8 specific micron ranges and apply to wool by Regions. To receive a graded wool LDP or marketing assistance loan, a producer must provide a core test.
